Choice

Choice

A choice is usually a direction we choose go to when were put in a certain situation or conflict.Everyday we are driven to make choices for the better. In the poem, "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost the author explains how in making a choice we cant choose both ways He must choose either one or the other."I shall be telling this with sigh somewhere ages and ages hence: two roads in a wood and I-- took the less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." He symbolizes how taking the better choice always comes out best in the long run.

In making choices, one must look at the choice from all aspects and how it would affect not only you, but others around us. When I read the short story "Dead End" by Rudolfo Anaya, I realized that me and the main character have many things in common, For example how she takes her school work and education very seriously. "Two years ago, at her mothers deathbed, Maria had promised she would not give up her dream of getting an education". The choice of not following the crowd and being yourself is a difficult but a smart choice to make . In the story, Maria felt like an outcast because all the other girls were trendy and flashy. She was plain and boring. Her love interest Frankie began questioning her just like the others on why she insisted on being the outcast of the school and barrio. "Whats the matter with you? You don't smoke, you don't dress like the other girls. You think your too good?" Although Maria really liked him, she knew deep down that he would never understand why she was different from the other girls and why she couldn't hang out and do drugs like the others. Like the poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost she took the road less traveled by.
